Craft and Design Selected

Thank you so much for of your support and votes!!! I'm one of six finalists for the Craft and Design Magazine Selected Makers Awards in the Glass category.

My work is an abstract representation of the mind and how it is affected by illness such as, dementia. I have been developing the use of caneworking techniques to incorporate twisting and cross hatched lines encased in a solid colour.
These symbolise the mind and the misfiring synapses of the brain which cause memories to become fractured and confused. These fluid, folded pieces are cut and polished to reveal the chaos contained within the forms which is how I imagine the obscured memories to look. I employ the use of stiff and soft colours to produce definate strong linear qualities and other which bleed and blur.
